How to Switch Multi User Profile On Android Jelly Bean 4.1

Some days ago, it was reported that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has got hidden code by which we can switch between multiple user profiles on the same. It makes the Jelly Bean, similar to desktop OS, on which you can use multiple profiles.

Although there is no official announcement about it from the Google, yet it’s possible and all thank goes to XDA Developers Forum Member zanderman112 who has made it possible.

To enjoy the second profile on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM on any device, you need to have Terminal Emulator installed on it. After installing it, open it and type the following code.

su

pm create-user test

The name test in above code defines the name of second user to be created. Of course, you can give it any name of your choice. Giving the seconds account name as ‘Guest’ will be a good move.

After attempting this step simply keep the Power button pressed until the popup menu comes enabling you to switch between profiles.

The second account is like guest account on Windows OS as it has limited features and access as compared to the original one.

Also the apps that you run in the first account keep running in the second account and texts of first account displays in the second account. The limitations of the second account can be seen by going to the settings option.

Tips For Better Use

Although the limitations are there but you can remove them by some tips, you can use the app drawer to hide all the apps that run in the first primary account for being displayed in the second profile.

If you don’t want the second profile to access the data of primary account, then you can set Lock screen settings in a way so that no one can access it.

This one is really a superb feature of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Yes, there are small limitations with using it, but XDA Developers Forum members are working hard to bring the best to all the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean users.
